Simple hair care

Aa.... A topic that is so touchy for many.

I remember as a child my parents telling me the best way to take care of your hair is apply coconut oil and wash with Reetha / Shikkakai.

I was like mom what do you understand the pains of combing the hair.. Hair is so frizzy and the struggles went on to breaking and hair thinning etc...

Went on to try the so called so many conditioners... I noticed it helped temporarily and definately did not feel good by the 2nd day ... 😏

Finally came to a point of balding. Tried even the onion juice , hair creams and infused oils, and lastly tried out even the ayurvedic brands like vedix. etc... All these trials made me think more ...

In these trials I understood self made hair creams worked ... Reetha and shikkai worked ... But how much care do we need for the scalp and hair I went on to experiment... And the following helped... Will explain the why and the science behind it too...

1) Being on the nature cure way of life helped as we eat more of vegetables  and fruits that is alkaline .. As all animal products and oils were stopped that also helped keep the skin clean. Ate nuts like cashews, badam, groundnuts and coconuts

2) Stopped oil application to scalp. Stopped shampoos.

3) washed my hair with neutral pH water ... Practically RO water ( drinking water)

4) here is the key... Or the secret...

Make a paste of fresh curry leaves, and hibiscus leaves and a few hibiscus flower. Those of you who would like to colour your hair can add a few fresh leaves of mehendi. Curry leaf quantity is more.Hibiscus is used for the slime. Apply on hair and scalp and keep for 20 min. Wash off with plain water.

Initially I did this ritual every 2 days. Later on came down to once in 3 days or when required. The scalp started generating its own oil and my hair went from frizzy ,dry to soft and no tangles. Noticed this treatment improves the pH level of the hair and scalp.

Once in a while I use reetha or shikkai but does not cause any dryness of hair or scalp.

Many have problems with finding hibiscus leaf. What do you do then. Make a paste of soaked methi seeds and curry leaves. Apply and keep on scalp for 20 min and wash of with plain water.

5) Having 2 teenage college going daughters... Who want their hair and skin to be perfect ... This helped.

It's been 6 months haven't used shampoos or oils... Hair is very good now...

Hope this helps some ...
